Ritual… your Anatomicals’ inspired relaxing moments

Ritual… and your Anatomicals’ inspired Ta Ta To Ooh Aah relaxing moments

Rituals are said to be the key ingredient to achieve happiness and a healthy lifestyle… well of course an apple a day would help, but there is much more to it…

Daily rituals

Let’s face it. Much of our daily life is made up of rituals of one sort or the other. There are morning rituals, office rituals, religious rituals, relaxing rituals, and so on and so forth. Most probably, even these categories are in themselves a set of rituals. Take for example morning rituals: it includes showering rituals, if one’s a man, most likely shaving rituals, breakfast-ritual, driving ritual. Change one thing, and off goes the daily routine and on goes that sense of having missed something.

Many frown at the idea of having to follow a ritual, perhaps mindful of the dull, boring, often seemingly meaningless rituals which they associate with formal ceremonies and the like. To a certain extent, ritual may seem to be the opposite of the freedoms we value: freedom of expression, freedom of thought, freedom of action, personal emotional fulfilment and so on.

Yet rituals are part of our life… We all resort to them, in one form or another, to do things, solve problems, perform certain functions, build personal, family or group identities and make sense of what would otherwise be chaos. Through ritual, life flows more easily. At the same time it does so in a programmed yet mindless (automatic) way. Indeed, without rituals, every action represents a heavy dose of unpredictability and uncertainty… making life ehhhmmm… heavy…

Thankfully there are all sort of rituals which we can freely, and gladdingly make our own. A couple of examples spring to mind: reading a book, enjoying a quiet cup of tea, patting your pet for a few minutes…spend five minutes in personal recollection or prayer. Oh! We recommend these items:

While you’re in there, use an exfoliating scrub for your face to brighten dull, pale-looking skin caused by lack of sleep.

When you get to work or later in the day, get 5 to 10 minutes of exercise in—a brisk walk or some stair climbing—to get some youthful glow back into your skin.

Bonus tip: If you’re a lady, put on lipstick, whatever color brightens you up. (I’m not normally a makeup person, but when you’re faking wakeful put-togetheredness, a distracting, colorful lip really works.)
